Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 July 2026
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Personal Information
When you subscribe or create an account, we collect:
- Name
- Email address
- Payment information (processed securely via our payment processor)
- Account credentials
1.2 Usage Data
With your consent where required (see Section 8), we may collect usage and device information. Some of this information, including an IP address or online identifier, can be personal data:
- IP address
- Browser type and version
- Device type
- Pages visited and interactions with our platform
This usage data is collected through privacy-focused analytics providers — PostHog (product analytics) and Google Analytics 4 — and is only loaded once you have given consent where consent is required. We use it in aggregate to understand how the product is used and to improve it.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and maintain your access to economy.fyi
- Process payments and manage subscriptions
- Communicate with you (e.g., service updates, billing notices)
- Improve and personalize our platform
- Ensure security and prevent fraud
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
3. Legal Bases for Processing
Where UK or EU data-protection law applies, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of our contract to create accounts, deliver paid features, and manage billing; legitimate interests to secure and improve the Service, prevent fraud, and respond to support requests; consent for non-essential analytics or marketing technologies where consent is required; and legal obligations for tax, accounting, compliance, and lawful requests.
4. Payment Information
We use Stripe as our payment processor to handle payment transactions securely. We do not store your full payment details on our servers. Please refer to the payment processor’s privacy policy for more information.
5. Sharing Your Information
We may share your information:
- With processors that support hosting and infrastructure, account authentication, email delivery, customer support, payments, fraud prevention, and consent-controlled analytics
- If required by law or legal process
- To protect our rights or the safety of users
We do not share your data for advertising purposes.
6. Data Storage & Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including encryption and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
7. Retention & International Transfers
We retain account data while your account is active and then only as long as needed for the purposes described here, including statutory tax, accounting, dispute, and security periods. Analytics retention is configured separately and is limited to what we need for product measurement. We delete or anonymize data when it is no longer needed.
Some providers process data outside the UK or EEA. Where required, we use an adequacy decision, approved contractual safeguards, or another lawful transfer mechanism and assess supplementary safeguards.
8. Cookies & Consent
We use cookies and similar technologies to run the site, remember your preferences, and — with your permission — to understand usage and improve the experience. We group these into the following categories:
- Strictly necessary — required for the site to function, including security, your session, and remembering your cookie choice. These are always on and cannot be switched off.
- Analytics — help us understand how the product is used so we can improve it. Provided by PostHog and Google Analytics 4.
- Marketing — used to measure and improve our marketing. These are off unless you opt in.
For Google Analytics we use Google Consent Mode v2, which keeps analytics and marketing storage disabled until you grant consent.
8.1 Your choices by region
How we ask for consent depends on where you are:
- EU/EEA, UK and Switzerland: we show a consent banner and do not load analytics or marketing cookies until you accept them.
- United States: analytics may run by default, and we provide a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link in the site footer. We also honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals.
- Elsewhere: analytics may run by default, and you can opt out at any time.
You can review or change your choices at any time using the “Cookie Preferences” link in the site footer. We do not sell your personal data.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct or delete your data
- Object to certain types of data processing
- Withdraw consent at any time (where applicable)
To exercise these rights, please contact us at support@economy.fyi. We may need to verify your identity. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office or your local supervisory authority. You can find ICO contact details at ico.org.uk.
10. Account Deletion
You may request account deletion at any time by contacting us at support@economy.fyi. Please note that deleting your account will permanently remove your access, and any data required for legal or billing purposes may be retained.
11. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal data so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page, and your continued use of the service indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
13. Contact Us
If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy, please contact the data controller, Economy.fyi Ltd., at support@economy.fyi. We will provide our registered contact details where required for a rights request or regulatory correspondence.
